A ruinous 2009 season was followed by a surprising change at the end of the year - Mercedes abandoned the partnership and has now left the motors to the English team, so the star would still shine on the front of the car. Nevertheless McLaren will start the new season with confidence, not least due to the tried and tested, promising innovations to the present car. Thanks to the long fin on the airbox, the air flows straight towards the rear wing. If the tail breaks away the fin also functions as a wind brake. Also the new front wing has improved the stability appreciably. Last year's world champion, Jenson Button, is also regarded as one of the favourites for the 2010 World Championship title.
